It’s a beautiful Thursday morning, but it’s supposed to get hot again today. Yesterday we had a bit of a break from the weather with some cloud cover making it a little cooler. Matt got a bit of a surprise on Tuesday afternoon (after the last post). One of his customers from Starbucks in Lakewood “dropped by” TCI! He knew Matt was going to be in Ukraine, but didn’t know our exact schedule. He was traveling to Kherson on another matter and decided to take a shot and see if we were here.
Yesterday we also had a visit from Sergey from L’vove. He brought with him Igor from the rehab center. While talking with them I noticed another guy who I’d met at the rehab center last year is also attending the festival. It was good to see Mischa again.
The English classes went well Tuesday and yesterday, as did the drama. Dawn was able to get on the Willowcreek site and find some skits for the Ukrainian youth to act out for the whole camp tomorrow. We’ve been asked to help with tonight’s worship and meeting time. The Mountainview folks will sing a couple of songs and we’ll finally present the Cardboard Testimonies, with participation from the Ukrainians as well. I’ll try to get a video of that up on the blog afterward.
We’ve heard a bit about different worship styles among the churches here, and as can happen anywhere, it leads to some conflict and dissatisfaction. Please be in prayer that no divisions among believers or attacks of the enemy are allowed to distract from what God is doing in the lives of the people here.
Our time is winding down quickly. We’ll see you all very soon!
Joe, Jen and Matt
